You’ll notice we’ve changed the name of this LSRI Team from “Rapid Response” to “Election Support.”
The reason: We have recently discovered that each township clerk in charge of elections in Michigan has extensive training in election-related rapid response strategies and resources; many clerks use the term “Rapid Response” to describe them. We don’t want to confuse this important issue, or muddy the water in any way. Our goal is to assist our local election clerks and workers as much as possible, not to detract from the excellent work they do!
On the agenda for the June 29th Meeting: Find the right fit for your participation in supporting our upcoming elections!
Tier 1: Be eyes and ears in your area for any election related issues and use Signal to share information with group leaders.
Tier 2: Train to have tools to go to problem areas and solve election related issues
Help us brainstorm potential election problems that might arise in Marquette and Alger counties, so we can then practice how to resolve them.

Join LSRI and Yoopers Unite for the July 4th Marquette Parade!
This year’s theme is “One Nation Indivisible – Celebrating 250 Years”
We’re looking for volunteers to help with constructing the float and walking in the parade on Saturday, July 4th. Like last year, we’ll have music and a chant-leader on the float, and we will be handing out copies of the US Constitution and LSRI material to the 6,000 people in attendance (that’s a rough estimate from the City about how many people line up on Washington Street for the annual parade.)
This will be a wonderful opportunity to promote LSRI, Yoopers Unite, and all that we do. Our messages will be positive, patriotic and unifying in nature, and we hope to attract new members to both organizations.

It’s a long-ish hike, roughly a mile and a half. Keep that in mind if mobility is an issue for you. We will have water on the float for our marchers, but no air-conditioning!
